CITY OF MALOLOS – With the theme “Pagmamahal at Respeto ng mga Nakababata, Nagpapaligaya sa mga Nakatatanda,” the Provincial Government of Bulacan honored 94 Bulakenyo centenarians as part of the celebration of the Filipino Elderly Week held at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city, Thursday afternoon.

Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said.

He also reminded the Bulakenyos who attended the event to show their love and care for their parents while they still have the chance for life will never be the same without them around.

On behalf of the PGB, the governor gave P10,000 to 50 new centenarians while the other 44 who have been awarded in the previous years received P3,000.

Meanwhile, Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Director Gemma Gabuya explained and shared the good news to Bulakenyos regarding Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016, a new law that will grant P100,000 cash incentive and additional benefits and privileges to Filipino centenarians, whether they are residing in the Philippines or in abroad.

She also reminded the families of the elderly, not only of the centenarians, that no elderly should experience abuse whether physical or emotional.

Maria Faustino, a centenarian from Norzagaray, Bulacan expressed her gratitude to the people who care and celebrate their long life.
