CITY OF MALOLOS – Fortunate and grateful that Bulacan was not seriously damaged by the wrath of super typhoon “Lawin”, the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado will send medical and relief teams and Bulakenyo volunteers to Northern Luzon to help in the medical and relief operations in highly devastated places of Cagayan and Isabela.

The Bulacan relief and medical teams which are composed of doctors, engineers and volunteers are set to conduct a two-day medical mission and relief goods distribution on November 3-4.

“This is part of our ways of giving back to the needy. When Bulacan was under that kind of situation, we also received help from our brothers and sisters in other provinces. This way, we can help a devastated community to recover again,” Alvarado said adding that the Bulacan team is now preparing for the mission.

Alvarado said that the PGB has been coordinating with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), other government agencies and relief organizations to determine how Bulacan can further help in the relief and rehabilitation efforts.

He also encourages Bulakenyos to extend a helping hand to the victims of the said calamity by donating cash, rice, and canned goods through the donation booth located at the lobby of the PGB until October 28.

“Kahit kaunti, kapag pinagsama-sama natin, dadami din ito at marami-rami din ang mga kababayan natin na makikinabang,” the governor said.

This is the second time that Alvarado and the province of Bulacan will conduct such mission.

When Yolanda hit Eastern Visayas in 2013, Bulacan has also sent a 100-man team composed of relief and medical teams to distribute relief goods and give medical assistance to the victims of the typhoon.

PGB has also donated P2.5 million to different municipalities of Samar to aid in the rehabilitation of the devastated communities in the province, which also suffered the wrath of a super typhoon aside from Tacloban and other parts of the Eastern Visayas.
