BulSU students participate in earthquake drill set by PGB

CITY OF MALOLOS – In observance of the National Disaster Consciousness Month, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through its Provincial Disaster Management Office mounted an earthquake drill in Bulacan State University (BulSU) campus, Tuesday morning.

BulSu was chosen to be the venue of the said drill because of its large number of students and to prepare them for possible earthquake that could reach to a 7 magnitude, says Civil Defense Regional Director Neri Amparo who also graced the event to observe.

Officials from the capitol said the drill cover positioning of siren, evacuation, establishment of Incident Command Post (ICP), establishment of two first aid stations, fire suppression and rescue operation, transfer of victims to Bulacan Medical Center and evaluation of the whole campus in order to Declare Scene or Campus is Safe.

After the drill, Provincial Administrator Jim Valerio commended the volunteers who participated in the said drill.

“Sa ngalan po ng ating Gov. Willy Alvarado, nagpapasalamat kami dahil nakiisa kayo sa gawaing ito. Mahalaga po na malaman natin ang mga bagay na ito nang sa gayon ay alam natin kung paano kikilos pagdating ng mga ganitong sakuna”, said Valerio.

Volunteers who composed the responding teams include 566 Rescuers, BIRA, Municipal Disaster Coordinating Councils of Sta. Maria, Calumpit, Marilao and Pulilan, Baliuag Assistance Rescue Group (BARG) and Rescue 117.

Meanwhile, support teams include Spectrum, ARREST, Philippine Army 561 B San Jose, 18th Special Forces PA, Bulacan Fire Protection Malolos, BSU Police Auxiliary and Philippine Red Cross-Bulacan.

A post evaluation was executed after the said drill. ###
