Bulacan, to mark 432nd founding anniversary with kick-off of monthlong fiesta

CITY OF MALOLOS – All roads lead to Bulacan on August 15 as it marks its 432nd founding anniversary as a province and the opening-salvo for the monthlong celebration of Singkaban Fiesta.

The Provincial Government will lead the commemoration of its foundation day with a holy mass in front of the capitol building at 7:00 in the morning followed by a program to celebrate the province’s rich cultural and historical heritage as depicted in the festivities of Singkaban Fiesta, also known as the mother of all fiestas in Bulacan.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado will lead officials in the offering of flowers to Gen. Gregorio del Pilar’s monument, also the unveiling of his seven point agenda including environment, health, education, good governance, livelihood, peace and order, and history and culture.

Alvarado said this day will also highlight the province’s kick-off program for Singkaban Fiesta with the theme “Lalawigan ko’y Ikaw, Kasaysayan Mo’y Ingatan, Serbisyo Publiko Iyong Makakamtan”.

The governor said this year’s celebration is a fusion of public service, culture, history and Bulakenyos’ artistry.

The organizers invited Professor Reynaldo Naguit, Dean of College of Social Science & Philosophy-Bulacan State University to speak about the province’s founding history and other government officials and employees.

Based on the research conducted by the Center for Bulacan Studies, Bulacan was established as a province on Aug. 15, 1578.###
