Bulacan gov’t, to fete five outstanding barangays in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS – On its tenth year, the Provincial Government of Bulacan, through Gawad Galing Barangay (GGB), will fete five outstanding barangays in the province that excelled in implementing relevant programs in their respective communities.

On September 11 dubbed as the Day of “Good Governance” in the celebration of Singkaban Fiesta, leaders, volunteers and other public servants from 569 barangays will convene at the Hiyas Pavilion in this city, to take part and witness the most awaited gathering made especially for them.

This will be Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado’s first appearance in the said awarding ceremonies as the chief executive in the province and as an executive leader, he believes that empowering the barangays will greatly contribute to the success of the province.

GGB is said to be the local counterpart of the prestigious Galing Pook Award, which annually recognizes outstanding LGU programs in the country.

According to the Provincial Planning and Development Office, secretariat of the said awards, GGB is divided into three categories: first is the award for Natatanging Gawaing Pambarangay wherein five outstanding, creative and most effective projects for the barangay will be chosen.

The second category is the award for Natatanging Lingkod Barangay wherein one outstanding barangay captain, councilor, secretary and treasurer will be recognized.

The third is the award for Natatanging Volunteer Workers and Volunteer Group wherein five volunteer workers from the ranks of Barangay Tanod, Mother Leaders, Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon, Barangay Health Workers and Rescue/Radio Workers will be feted. Also, a group from several volunteer groups will be awarded.

GGB winners will receive plaques and cash incentives courtesy of the Provincial Government of Bulacan.

Meanwhile, on the same day, the Department of Foreign Affairs will bring its Mobile E-Passport Service to benefit 500 Bulakenyo applicants at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

To further the festivities, the Provincial Human Resources and Management Office will host a chorale contest dubbed as Himig ng mga Bulakenyo open to all LGUs and national agency-based chorale. Later at night will be the Lakan and Lakambini coronation , also at the Capitol Gymnasium. ###
