NG MAGKAKADUGO
I. Background This
is a multi-sectoral strategy to promote voluntary blood donation
program in the province. The Provincial Task force on Damayan
ng Magkakadugo was created chaired by the Provincial Health
Officer of Bulacan. Other offices agencies involved were the
Regional Health Office, Philippine National Red Cross and the
Phil. National Police. The objectives of this local initiatives
are:
- Blood typing of all prospective donors 18-60 years old:
male/female in all barangays with at least one potential donor
in every family.;
- Blood letting of one to two municipalities
once a month as per schedule under the program of Blood Letting
by the Unified Local Health System of Municipalities, and
- Masterlisting of walk-in blood donors in every barangay with
the target of 50 donors. The Task Force disseminate accurate
information to the public regarding the benefits and advantage
of voluntary blood donation. It also motivates the different
sectors of society to donate blood voluntarily and discourage
paid donors system. It coordinates the Professional Societies
and Association in conducting seminars on the continuing professional
education activities of the program to initiate, improve and
promote policies and procedures in the areas blood components
therapy, blood banking and the like to effect maximum and efficient
utilization of blood.
Damayan ng
Magkakadugo ensures availability, adequacy and safety of blood
supply, thus gives an accurate information to the public regarding
the benefits and advantages of voluntary blood donation. It
has motivated the different sector of society to donate blood
voluntarily.
The Municipal
Task Force mandatory keeps the masterlist of qualified voluntary
blood donors in the government hospitals, RHUs ad conducts blood
typing activities in all barangays of their municipality. Intensufy
IEC campaigns by multi-sectoral advocacy meetings.
