1956
The very first pioneer hospital in the 4th district of Bulacan was establish under Republic Act 1600 thru the effort of Congressman Rogaciano Mercado, Governor Alejo Santos, Mayor Ricardo Nicolas and Dr. Antonio Rodriguez, Executive Officer of the Bureau of Hospitals. The lot was purchased from Dr. Francisco Gonzales with a total land area of 14,155 square meters.

1958
Construction of the hospital started with a budget of P 130,000.00 and was completed in 1959. In the same year, Dr. ANTONIO RODRIGUEZ directed Dr. ALBER V.SANTOS, Director of the Bulacan Provincial Hospital , to organize the said STA. MARIA EMERGENCY HOSPITAL .

1960
Secretary of Health, ELPIDIO VALENCIA directed the Director of San Pablo City Hospital, Dr. BONIFACIO REYES, a resident of Sta. Maria to temporarily manage the hospital with only 8 personnel. On the first month of its operation, there were only 9 patients, but these gradually increased in the succeeding months.

1961
On February, 1961 Dr. FEDERICO CRUZ, an Orthopedic Surgeon from the National Orthopedic Hospital was appointed as the first Chief of Hospital. The Budget Appropriation of the hospital then was Php 172,333.82.

1968
Bed capacity was increased to 75.

1970
Bed capacity was increase to 100 with a total number of 108 personnel. The hospital was then named STA. MARIA DISTRICT HOSPITAL .

1976
The hospital building expanded with the construction of additional private rooms. Intercoms were also installed within the different sections of the hospital.

1985
Various medical and surgical projects were launched such Operation Harelip, Operation Hemorrhoidectomy and Herniorrhapy. Operation Hare Lip offers free cheiloplasty and free medicines to children with hare lip. These projects were made possible with the services of Dr. Sergio Santos, a general surgeon on dispersal at Bulacan Provincial Hospital detailed at Sta. Maria District Hospital .

1986
Covered walk was constructed connecting the OB ward to the Main Building of the hospital , protecting personnel and patients during rainy days.

1987
The Out-Patient Department was constructed. For the first time in the history of the hospital, the Out-Patient Department is now a separate building, which used to be housed in the Emergency Room.

1988
The Doctor's Quarter was constructed with separate rooms for male and female doctors. The 3000 gallons overhead tank was installed and a repiping of the cold water lines was undertaken.

1989
The Multi-purpose Conference Hall was constructed thru the effort of the Sta. Maria District Hospital Choral Group headed by Dra. Bernardita Cordero.

A Pediatric Mal-Ward and a Waiting Shed were also constructed which served as the waiting area for the patients of the Out Patient Department .

1990
A municipal resolution was passed re-naming the hospital as ROGACIANO M. MERCADO MEMORIAL DISTRICT HOSPITAL , now referred to as RMMMH.

1992
T he Health Sector was dis- integrated, the RMMMH was devolved to the Provincial Government of Bulacan an d the Rural Health Units were devolved to their respective municipalities.

1995
The RMMMH Multi-Purpose Cooperative was established with all the employees of the hospital as members.

1998
An intensive facelift and renovation were undertaken in the different wards. The rooms and comfort rooms were renovated. A portion of the Surgery Ward was converted into a Conference Room, complete with comfort rooms. Additional laboratory equipment were purchased. The Out-Patient Department was renovated.

1999

  1. Complete renovation of Minor OR, ER, DR and Chief of Clinics Office.
  2. Installation of tiles in the hallway, pharmacy and medical social worker's office
  3. Renovation of dietary service and installation of stainless lavatories
  4. Widening of the OPD Waiting Area complete with paging systems and educational materials including Tvs and VCDs on health

2000

  1. Launching of the Unified Local Health System and sign ing of Memorandum of Agreement between the Provincial Government, the Local Chief Executives of our six catchment municipalities namely: B ocaue, Marilao, Meycauayan, Norzagaray, Pandi and Sta. Maria, and Dr. Eduardo Aquino.
  2. A Home-Based Hospital Nursing Care Program was created at RMMMH through the efforts of Former Under Secretary Manuel Roxas. This now funded by the PGB.

2002

  1. Launching of the District Hospital Information System (DHIS) spearheaded by the Provincial Information and Technology Office (PITO) and RMMMH. Now all the sections of the hospital are computerized and is now being duplicated in the rest of the District Hospitals of the entire province
  2. Received equipments and minor surgical instruments from RHO #3 during the launching of Unified Local Health System
  3. Awarded as the cleanest hospital in the SKLK Contest
  4. Implementation of the Home-Based Hospital Nursing Care Program and 271 patients are presently enrolled
  5. Computerization of Billing, OPD, Pharmacy Supply and Records Section

2003

Construction of the Admitting Section of the hospital, a new and more accessible Chief Nurse's Office, a Neonatal Ward, and the renovation of the Observation Room and Emergency Room as well

2004

Designation of Medical Specialists of the different departments as Department Heads, and Medical Officers V as Assistant Department Heads. This led to the creation of the Management Team of the Hospital consisting of the Department Heads of the different hospital services.
