CITY OF MALOLOS- Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) Chief Operating Officer Mark Lapid expressed his support in realizing the Angat Water Park eco-tourism project and encourage the local officials to finish the project as early as possible.

“TIEZA is willing to invest funds to realize this project. Naisagawa na po ang plano para dito, pero iminumungkahi ko na ang bawat bayan na sakop nito ay mag-isip din ng natatanging turismo o attractions na makikita lamang sa kanilang bayan upang maiwasan ang kumpetisyon at sa gayon ay mabigyan din ng iba’t ibang activities ang mga nais pumasyal dito,” said Lapid.

This happened as local government officials in Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado gathered in Sitio Pugpog, Sta. Cruz, Angat for the groundbreaking ceremony recently.

Alvarado added that they are also giving their 100 percent support on this project that is designed to develop Angat River into a three-hectare Environment Water Sports Facility which will provide a complete adventure package of water sports and activities.

“Investors are very willing to invest in Bulacan, that’s why there is a huge potential for development and progress. But with development also comes our responsibility to our environment. We must properly monitor the execution of this project so as to continuously preserve the abundant gift of nature found in this place,” said Alvarado.

He added that this project will cover four towns in the province such as Angat, Norzagaray, Bustos and San Rafael.

Angat Mayor Gilberto Santos, who initiated the project, added that they had constructed roads going to the area, nipa huts built, and water sports equipment like water bikes and kayaks readied.

“We are planning to put amenities such as water skiing, jet skiing, boating, kayaking, zipline, wakeboarding, floating restaurants, fishing and picnic areas. We are hoping that the entire facility will be finished next year,” said Santos.

San Rafael Mayor Lorna Silverio, Norzagaray Mayor Feliciano Legaspi and Bustos Mayor Arnel Mendoza, as demonstration of support, also joined in signing the memorandum of agreement between TIEZA and the local government units involved.

With all the resources and plans put in place, Lapid remarked, very soon people will say, “Water sports are more fun in Bulacan!” ###
