Bulacan Tourism to launch its 24K icons, seal and code

CITY OF MALOLOS-The Provincial Government of Bulacan will launch the 24K Tourism Icons of Bulacan come June 12, 2012, coinciding the celebration of the 114th Anniversary of Philippine Independence at 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center here.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the program aims to boost the tourism industry and to showcase the tourism icons of the three cities and 21 towns in the province.

“Ang 24 na bayan at lungsod ng Bulacan ay inihahalintulad sa kinang ng mahusay na kalidad ng 24 Karat na ginto na nagniningning ang historical at tourism value. Ito din ay binigyan ng pantay-pantay na promosyon sa nasabing icon,” said Joseph Sonny Cristobal, tourism division head.

With its theme “Piliin Mo ang Bulacan”, Alvarado encourages foreign and local tourists to see for themselves and experience the following 24K tourism icons: Modernized Arts of Angat, Birthplace of Balagtas, Lenten Procession of Baliwag, Fireworks of Bocaue, Del Pilar’s Heritage of Bulacan, Dam Dipping in Bustos, Cruising in Calumpit, Nature Tripping in Dona Remedios Trinidad, Garden Haven of Guiguinto, Fishing Industry in Hagonoy, Revisiting the Past of Malolos, National Shrine of Marilao, Finest Jewelry of Meycauayan, Dam Viewing in Norzagaray, Fertility Dancing in Obando, Revisiting Kakarong in Pandi, Vinegar Fermentation of Paombong, Designs and Architecture in Plaridel, Kneeling Carabao in Pulilan, Wonders of Nature in San Ildefonso, Trekking in San Miguel, Festive Pageantry in San Rafael, Independent Pilgrim in San Jose Del Monte and Fiesta Foods of Santa Maria.

In line with the launching of the 24K icons is the presentation of the Tourism Code and tourism seal for provincial accreditation. This will help to better promote Bulacan’s rich tourism industry.

Also, one of the salient provisions in the said code is the creation of a new department which will be named Provincial History, Arts, Cultural and Tourism Office (PHACTO) to solely administer all programs concerning tourism, history, culture and arts in the province.

Meanwhile, 25 candidates of the Ms. World-Philippines 2012 headed by Cory Quirino will also grace the event and will be presented before the Bulakenyos along with Miss World 2011 first runner up Gwendoline Ruais. ###
