Guiguinto street dancers dominate Indakan sa Kalye 2015

CITY OF MALOLOS – The best street dancers of Cherubim Montessori School from Guiguinto stood out with their folkloric dance moves and colorful props and costumes and bagged the first place in the “Indakan sa Kalye,” the Best of the Best Street Dancers Competition held at the Bulacan Sports Complex yesterday in this city.

Showcasing their town’s tradition and festive celebration of Halaman Festival, the champion received trophy and cash prize amounting to P100,000.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the competition is the way of the Provincial Government of Bulacan to promote the local festivities in the province and to attract not only the Bulakenyos, but all the Filipinos and foreign tourists to witness the annual celebration of Singkaban Festival 2015 with the theme “Bulacan, Dangal ng Bansa! Lahing Bulakenyo, Ating Ibandila!”

“Sa lalawigan ng Bulacan matatagpuan ang ilang mga pinakamahuhusay na mananayaw sa bansa at ito ang paraan ng ating Pamahalaang Panlalawigan upang kanilang ipamalas ang angking talento sa pagsayaw na nagtatampok sa mga makukulay na pagdiriwang sa Bulacan,” the governor said.

Alvarado also congratulated the winners and commended the efforts of the managers of the dance groups as well as the support of the local government units in the competition and urged them to continue their strategic preservation of the rich culture and tradition of their respective towns and cities.

The Hiyas ng Hagonoy Folkloric Dance Group with their Disposorio Festival bagged the second place and received trophy and cash prize worth P75,000. They were also awarded as the Best in Street Dance and Best in Costume with P5,000 cash incentive.

Moreover, Tuktukan Guiguinto Dance Group also with their Halamanan Festival theme was awarded as the third place and received P50,000 and trophy while the Calero Elementary Dance Group of Kababaihan ng Malolos Festival, Bulacan Agricultural State College Liping Tagalog Folkloric Group of Bulak and Gulay Festival and Dr. Felipe de Jesus National High School of Horse Festival were awarded honorable mention and each received P10,000 and a trophy.

The annual street dance competition started at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium and ended in Bulacan Sports Complex where the showdown took place and was made possible through the efforts of the Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment and Development Office.
