CITY OF MALOLOS – Liberal Party Presidential standard bearer Manuel ‘Mar’ Roxas joined thousands of Bulakenyos in giving importance to the country’s kundiman songs and Original Pinoy Music in “Konsiyertong Bulakenyo: Pagbabalik Tanaw, Susi sa Tagumpay” Tuesday morning at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

Roxas said the concert featuring prominent Bulakenyo musical artists and organized by the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando is one way of bringing the people to the “Matuwid na Daan” through good original Filipino music.

The former Department of Interior and Local Government secretary likened the “Daang Matuwid” policy of the Aquino administration as well as the Philippine society to a well tuned “orchestra” that is continuously healing, bringing hope and good life to the Filipino people.

Roxas further encouraged the Bulakenyos to continue the pursuit of good music, which he coined as the Daang Matuwid Orchestra.

Meanwhile, Alvarado said that music has been a part of the lifestyle of the people of Bulacan for a long, long time.

Among the Bulakenyo artists who filled the gymnasium with music and entertainment were Talentadong Pinoy Hall of Famer Melbeline Anne Caluag from Guiguinto who was accompanied by rising Bulakenyo Saxophone player Rodnick Santos of the Provincial Brass Band in their rendition of “Kay ganda ng ating musika”, the blind Kundiman Queen Michelle Lagartera of San Miguel, Lara Lavinia Bayani, Trixie Dayrit, BulSu Entablado, and BulSu Saring Himig.
