Ken Chan joins thousands of Bulakenyos in the Hakbang Para sa Kabataan 2016

Chan or better known as Ken Chan did not only inspire the Bulakenyo youth with his great music but also with his willingness to participate in worthy activities such as “Hakbang Para sa Kabataan 2016” held at the Mini Forest, Capitol Compound, City of Malolos, Bulacan this morning that will benefit the out-of-school youth and sports development in the province. CITY OF MALOLOS – Television personality and a youth himself, Ken Chan joined and entertained more than 5,000 Bulakenyos in “Hakbang Para sa Kabataan 2016” held early today at the Mini Forest, Capitol Compound in this city.

After an hour walk, the groups from Barasoain Church and Santisima Trinidad Elementary School met and gathered at the Tanghalan ng Sining at Kultura for a short program wherein Chan serenaded and mingled with the participants.

Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment and Development Office (PYSEDO) Head Elizabeth Alonzo said that aside from its objective to raise funds for the programs and projects intended for out of school youths (OSY) and sports development in the province, the said activity is also one way of encouraging the youth to join in worthwhile endeavors while enjoying at the same time.

Also during the program, a raffle draw was held wherein Grade VI-Rosal from Telapatio Elementary School in San Ildefonso won the first prize worth P50,000; Grade VI–Sapphire from Dampol II National Highschool in Pulilan got the second prize worth P30,000; and Grade VI-Ilang-Ilang from Patubig Elementary School in Marilao took home P20,000.

As for the biggest delegation, Canalate Integrated School received P5,000 while Pres. Corazon Cojuangco Aquino Memorial National High School, Sto. Rosario Integrated School and Bulacan Polytechnic College that got the second, third and fourth places received P2,000 each.

Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando expressed his gratitude to everyone who joined the walk for a cause and stressed the importance of education.

“Kayo po ang aming pag-asa sa mga susunod na henerasyon, kaya mga kabataan lagi nating itatak sa ating mga isip na ang edukasyon ay mahalaga para sa inyo, para sa ating lahat, para maabot ninyo ang inyong mga pangarap at maitaas po natin lalo ang dangal ng ating lalawigan,” Fernando said.

Moreover, first district Congressman Jonathan Sy-Alvarado announced that student athletes can apply for scholarship through his office or PYSEDO’s and they are intending to add more senior high school buildings to avoid double or triple shifts.

“Bawat hakbang na binigay ninyo, lahat ng sumama ngayong araw na ito ay kasama na sa mga nag-alay ng magandang kinabukasan at magandang kabuhayan para sa mga kabataan sa ating lalawigan. Sana ay wala ng malulong sa masamang bisyo, sana sa mabuting bisyo na lamang ng pagtulong sa kabataan, ng pagtulong sa kapwa,” the congressman said.
