CITY OF MALOLOS - Bulakenyos will feel the ease in travelling after the 9.60-kilometer Pulilan–Baliwag Diversion (PBD) Road located in Brgy. Tibag in Pulilan town was inaugurated today by Department of Public Works and Highway Secretary Mark A. Villar.

Secretary Villar said that the DPWH is keen on constructing more bypass roads due to their continued desire not only to improve traffic flow but also to ensure safe travel.

He added that their main goal is not only to provide vehicular infrastructure but also pedestrian infrastructure by including bike lanes.

The bypass project is composed of three phases and is significant in diverting the flow of traffic and reducing travel time from one hour to 30 minutes.

Other vehicles headed to North Luzon Expresssway (NLEX) may now use this alternate road that begins at Pulilan-Calumpit Road in Brgy. Tibag, Pulilan and ends in Brgy. Tarcan, Baliwag.

In 2015, DPWH Regional Office III Director Roseller Tolentino led the groundbreaking of the project, which costed P509.694 million and was completed this year.

The Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando is thankful for the project that was immediately open to travelers after the inauguration.

Meanwhile, according to Rodolfo Santos and Hermano Santos who are both farmers from Brgy. Inaon, Pulilan, bypass roads in Bulacan especially the PBD shorten their travel time, which equates to less expenses and more revenues.

“Kami’y talagang nagpapasalamat at mas maginhawa na ang aming pagbibiyahe lalo na ng mga produkto namin, sana mas marami pang ganitong proyekto ang magawa sa buong bansa,” Rodofo Santos said.
