CITY OF MALOLOS- Cooperative Development Authority Regional Director Marrieta Hwang recognized the efforts of the province of Bulacan to honor outstanding cooperatives and said that the cooperative spirit in Bulacan is continously developing, progressive and alive during the "Gawad Galing Kooperatiba" held at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city last night.

Hwang, who represented CDA Chairperson of the Board of Directors Usec. Orlando Ravanera, also said that CDA supports the bill claiming that Bulacan is the cooperative capital of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Governor Daniel R. Fernando acknowledged the efforts of the top performing Bulacan cooperatives and honor their contribution in the boosting economy of the province.

"Pinalawak ninyo ang prinsipyo ng pagtulong sa sarili na siyang tunay na diwa ng bayanihan sa pamayanan; tinanim ninyo ang prinsipyo ng bolunterismo sa pamayanan at naglingkod kayo ng walang reserbasyon sa katatayuan sa buhay ng inyong mga kasapi; mabuting halimbawa kayo ng responsibilidad sa lipunan; at instrumento kayo ng katarungang panlipunan," the governor said.

The awardees of the Gawad Galing Kooperatiba include Palayan sa Nayon Multipurpose Cooperative of the City of Malolos for the Large Scale category; Pananaw Sandigan Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Pandi for the Medium Scale Category; and the Silangan Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Santa Maria for the Small Scale category.

Also, the Municipal Cooperative Development Council of Marilao was recognized as the Gawad Galing Coop Council awardee; the San Isidro-San Roque Credit Cooperative of the Meycauayan City was given the Gawad Galing Kooperatiba- Medium Scale Category Trailblazing Award; and the City of Malolos Cooperative Development Council was awarded with Gawad Galing Coop Council-Trailblazing Award.

Special citations were also given to the Minuyan Family Development and Multipurpose Cooperative from the City of San Jose del Monte for their increase in share capital; Samahang Mare at Pare Multi-Purpose Cooperative also from the CSJDM for their increase in savings; Municipal Employees of Norzagaray Multipurpose Cooperative for their increase in net surplus; and the PASCHAL Multipurpose Cooperative of Pandi for their increase in membership.

In addition, Special Award for the Golden Foundation Anniversary were given to Sto. Rosario Credit and Development Cooperative of the City of Malolos; and to the St. Martin of Tours Credit and Development Coop of Bocaue.

Rafael Dela Rama of the Palayan sa Nayon Multipurpose Cooperative thanked the organizers of the event and said that such recognitions inspire cooperative leaders to better serve their members and community.

"Kaisa ng Lalawigan ng Bulacan ang Palayan sa Nayon Multipurpose Cooperative at lahat ng kooperatiba sa pagsusulong ng ekonomiya ng Bulacan. Kaisa din po kami sa pagiging numero uno ng Bulacan sa larangan ng kooperatiba na tunay na nararapat na taguriang koop capital ng bayan," Dela Rama said.
