CITY OF MALOLOS – About 10,000 runners joined Senator Cynthia Villar and the employees of the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Governor Daniel R. Fernando in the 20 km fun run dubbed as Takbo Para sa Kalikasan 2 in support to the rehabilitation of Manila Bay and its adjacent coastal areas, which commenced at the Bulacan Sports Complex in Brgy. Bagong Bayan (Sta. Isabel) here yesterday.

It provides us with a good opportunity to get involved and be able to contribute,” Villar said.

She also commended the purpose of the activity and emphasized the need to take action to prevent further complications in the coastal areas.

Fernando also sought the help and support of Bulakenyos to achieve the desired outcome of the rehabilitation.

At kayo bilang mamamayan ng Pilipinas, kayo ang katuwang namin,” the governor said.

Furthermore, Department of the Interior and Local Government-Region 3 Director Julie J. Daquioag also launched the “Disiplina Muna” campaign in relation to maintaining a clean environment and highlighted the importance of self-discipline.

Magsimula tayo sa ating sarili, follow the rules, follow the waste segregation,” Daquioag said.

Meanwhile, top runners for each category were also recognized after the fun run and each winners received a trophy, medal and cash prize wherein the 3K U-turn run male winners include Jerome Comanda who landed on the first place; Jovie Villadanas on second; Alexandro Luciano on third and Aries Lucero on fourth spot while the female runners include Cherie Anne Nulledo on first spot; Kesha Maramba on second and Renelyn Oquiño on third place.
