CITY OF MALOLOS- Bulacan top officials lauded the winners in the “Singing Police Competition” and election of officers for the Bulacan Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (BFJODA) in the recently concluded Araw ng Lingkod Lansangan, held September 10, in line with the Singkaban Fiesta celebration.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando extended their greetings to the talented policemen who emerged as top winners in the first “The Singing Police Kundiman Contest” including PO3 Rogelio Gabriel G. Balan-champion, while PO1 Fretzel H. Garcia and PO3 Jaime A. Fontanilla, bagged second and third place respectively.

The winners were given certificate of recognition and cash prizes which include P8,000 for the over-all-winner, P5,000 for second and P3,000 for third prize.

To his delightment, Vice Governor Fernando surprised the 31 other police contestants by giving them P500 each as consolation prize.

Meanwhile, drivers and operators of jeepneys in the province elected Jun “Batas” Pereda as president and Jaime G. Espinas as vice president of BFJODA.

This resulted after the province initiated to convene and organize, for the first time, jeepney drivers and operators to hold an election for its provincial set of officers.

Aside from being grateful to this initiative, the drivers were also happy and thankful to the Provincial Government for giving them a chance to win in a raffle contest which include colored television, washing machine, cellular phone, basket of goodies, towel, jug, engine oil at gas certificate.

A concert featuring 10 homegrown bands from Bulacan and the famous Shamrock Band topbilled the Awit ng Kabataan held in front of the Capitol Building in that evening, sealing the celebration for that day which carried the theme peace and order. ###
