Nearly 11,000 Bulakenyo families benefit from Philhealth Sabado

CITY OF MALOLOS- Top Bulacan officials joined the nationwide Philhealth registration in line with President Noynoy Aquino’s universal health agenda in an activity dubbed as “Philhealth Sabado Magseguro, Magparehistro” held yesterday at the Capitol Gymnasium in this city.

Gov. Wilhelmino Alvarado, together with Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando, led the distribution of Philhealth cards to about 442 familes of the total 10, 596 families sponsored by the national government, particularly the Department of Health.

In his message to his constituents, Alvarado underscored the essence of having a heatlth insurance during times of emergency, further citing that the Provincial Government, together with other local government units are exerting all efforts to raise its tax collection to increase the numbers of families covered by Philhealth in Bulacan.

“Kung mahal natin ang ating pamilya, kailangan kumuha ng health insurance para makasiguro tayo sa kinabukasan ng ating mga mahal sa buhay. Dahil kung malusog tayo, magiging produktibo tayo,” the governor explained.

Alvarado said health is one of his top priorities in his seven point agenda and as a proof, nearly 30,000 Bulakenyo families are enrolled in Philhealth through the initiative of the Provincial Government.

He also vowed to expand the program by sponsoring additional families in the coming years, at the same time, cover the renewal fees of existing beneficiaries so they can continue to enjoy the benefits of Philhealth card.

Aside from this, the governor announced major upgrading in the services of Bulacan Medical Center and six other district hospitals to ensure that the medical needs of the Bulakenyos, including hospitalization and laboratory exams are satisfied.

As of 12 noon yesterday, at least 200 Bulakenyos enrolled their families in Philhealth while many individuals continue to troop to the registration center.

Meanwhile, Angie Del Mundo of Philhealth Bulacan gave a brief orientation on how and when to use Philhealth card to take advantage of its full benefits.

She stressed that Philhealth card may be used by the member and his whole family including his/her legal partner and all the kids whether legitimate or not. It may be used when hospitalized for 24 hours up to 45 days for members, and another 45 days for family members in all accredited hospitals in the province.

She also announced special benefit packages offered by Philhealth for diagnostic examinations, eye cataract extraction for one eye, radio theraphy for cancer treatment, dialysis, xray, urinalysis, complete blood count, breast and rectal exam, among others.

Officials from DepEd, DSWD, DILG and PNP also supported the said one-day simultaneous registration.###
