Bulacan Gov to lead lighting of giant Singkaban Christmas tree

CITY OF MALOLOS –Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado will lead the lighting of the giant Christmas tree in front of the Provincial Capitol Building that will signal the start of the Paskong Bulacan, Monday night.

The Governor will switch-on a 35-foot Singkaban Christmas Tree, decorated with colorful lanterns, surrounded with yellow silk fabric and adorned with dazzling Christmas lights.

Alvarado said the lighting of the unique Christmas tree will usher in the start of the season of joy, love and peace.

The Paskong Bulacan will also be highlighted by colorful entertainments such as Konsyerto Alay sa Kapaskuhan where the famous Angel Festival of San Rafael will also be featured.

Other attractions include the performance of San Pedro High Street Dancers, BulSU Saring Himig, Sining Bulakenyo, Coro Basilica de Malolos, San Roque Performing Group, Barasoain Kalinangan and Hiyas ng Bulacan Concert Band.

Elizabeth Alonzo, head of the Provincial Youth Sports Employment Arts and Culture Office said the Bulacan based rock-band Roots of Nature and popular singer Jeff Taylor will also perform after the distribution of gifts to more than 100 orphans and 10 older people.

To the delight of the guests and the viewing public, the Provincial Government of Bulacan also prepared an aerial fireworks display to seal this event.

The intricate design of the native Christmas tree was done by Kiko Eligio, a well known craftsman in the field of singkaban or bamboo art décor, from the town of Hagonoy.###
