Bulacan officials, to commemorate 112th Anniversary of first Phil Republic

CITY OF MALOLOS – Top local officials in the province will convene to lead Bulakenyos in the commemoration of the 112th founding anniversary of the first Philippine Republic on Sunday, January 23, at the historic church of Barasoain.

The program will kick-off at six in the morning with a civic and military parade from Malolos Central School leading to Barasoain Church followed by a flag raising ceremony and wreath laying on the monument of General Emilio Aguinaldo at seven.

Expected to grace the event are Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando, Cong. Marivic Sy-Alvarado of the first district, Mayor Christian Natividad,Vice Mayor Gilbert Gatchalian, Ludovico Badoy, executive director of the National Historical Institute, and members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Moreover, Hon. Alberto Lim, secretary of the Department of Tourism will be the guest of honor and speaker.

Also part of the program is the launching of the book “BIGKIS” to be presented by Joe Clemente, president of Arte Bulakenyo Foundation, Inc. and the reenactment of the Pagpapasinaya sa Unang Republika and Balik Tanaw sa Kasaysayan ”Dangal at Tagumpay ng Himagsikan” to be portrayed by MW Nicolas Ricafrente, past grand master of the Independent Grand Lodge of the Philippine Island.

The first Republic of the Philippines was established on January 23, 1899 coinciding
with the induction of Gen. Aguinaldo as its first president, two days after the Malolos Congress was constitutionalized on January 2l, l899. ###
