Bulacan, NGOs forms multi-sectoral alliance against TB
Monday, 07 February 2011
CITY OF MALOLOS – Provincial Government of Bulacan and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) merged in an effort to intensify the fight against Tuberculosis as they form the organization dubbed as Provincial Multi-Sectoral Alliance (PMSA) in a meeting held at Club Royale Resort recently.

Being first in the region, PMSA will organize and mobilize communities in the screening and treatment of suspected Tuberculosis carriers, boost the awareness of the people, form policies and generate financial support to aid the TB victims.

Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado stated that cleanliness is very important in preventing Tuberculosis.

“People should be properly informed; they should know how to help themselves. PMSA can help in conducting massive information campaign to prevent TB and together with the Provincial Government, we can work hand in hand in addressing not only the health of TB patients but as well their financial needs,” Governor Alvarado said.

Meanwhile, Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando assured that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will do its best to support PMSA.

“Help should be long-term and not temporary. PMSA should continuously make efforts and maintain their enthusiasm in working for this advocacy,” said Vice Governor Fernando.

Governor Alvarado heads PMSA along with his Vice Governor Fernando as his co-chairman.

Together with USAID-TBLINC, other agencies that supported the foundation of PMSA are PAMET-Bulacan, Philippine Pharmacists Association, Muslim Development Council, Bulacan State University, Barangay Health Workers Association, Bantay Kalusugan ng Bulacan, and SM Supermalls. ###
