Bulacan LGUs form provincial alliance

CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado called on the local chief executives of the province to unite for the betterment of the Bulakenyos which lead to a two-day workshop and formation of Provincial Alliance held in Royal Northwoods Golf and Country Club in Coral na Bato, San Rafael last week.

Thru the collaborative efforts of the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and cooperation of National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) and the 21 municipalities and three cities in Bulacan, priority projects, division of labor and counter parting have been discussed.

According to Asst. Regional Director Leocadio Trovella, DILG Region III, the alliance aims to strengthen the unity between the leaders of the province as well as the implementation of one step at a time priority projects for the benefit of the Bulakenyos and equal distribution of functions and responsibilities between the Provincial Government and the local government units.

Provincial Director Myra Morale, DILG Bulacan, explained that the alliance is a long term process that needs strong commitment and investment of time and resources from all the stakeholders.

On the other hand, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado presented some of PGB’s priority projects this 2011 which includes the construction of sanitary landfill in Norzagaray, rehabilitation of Marilao-Meycauayan-Obando river system, proper segregation of waste as per stated in RA 9003 or the Solid Waste Management Act and equal opportunities for services for every Bulakenyos.

“Mas importante po sa atin yung ating sinumpaang paglilingkod sa ating bayan at kapwa, alam naman po natin na no man is an island, wala pong magagawa ang sinuman sa atin kung hindi po tayo magtutulungan at magkakaisa,” Alvarado added.

Further, the mayors from the 21 municipalities and three cities in the province also presented their plans for their respective localities.

Also, Provincial Planning and Development Officer Arlene Pascual explained the governance and developmental challenges that the province had faced during the past years.

After the workshop, a Governor’s Night was held and part of the program is the turnover of output to the governor and a simple dinner.

“We can build our tower kung tayo po ay magkakasama at aakto bilang isa, tiyak na malaki po ang magagawa natin para sa ating lalawigan,” the governor said. ###
