Bulacan to host CLRAA 2011

CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulacan will once again host the 2011 Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA), a six-day sports event come this February 20-25.

Being at the helm of the activity, the Provincial Government of Bulacan is now busy preparing to ensure an orderly, safe arrival and stay of more than 8,000 student athletes in the province. The preparation includes assigning of focal persons to assigned holding area of delegates, maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the venues, strict implementation of security measures in every point of entry and exit and dissemination of IEC materials to inform the public about the upcoming event.

Eighteen delegations will arrive on February 19 and will temporarily stay in billeting schools in the province to prepare to compete in the different sports event like football, gymnastics, taekwondo, softball, arnis, boxing, basketball and table tennis.

On February 20, 2 pm, the competition will formally open thru a parade that will start from the mini-forest inside the capitol compound and will end at Bulacan Sports Complex where a short program will be held.

The game proper will start the next day, February 21, at the eight assigned playing venues which include Malolos Central School, Calumpit Central School, Capitol Gymnasium, Gen. Isidoro Torres Memorial Elementary School, Bulacan Sports Complex, Marcelo H. del Pilar National High School covered gym, Sta. Isabel Elementary School and Bulacan State University Activity Center.

At 6 pm, the same day, a Governor’s Night or Cultural Night will be held at Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium where Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado will be the guest of honor. Other highlights of the celebration are the presentation of each delegation raffle and awarding of plaque to invited guests.

CLRAA competition will end on February 25 thru an awarding ceremony of the winners.

The said competition aims to hone the talent and discipline of participants in different fields of sports as well as the camaraderie among their fellow athletes from the schools in Central Luzon. ###
