Bulacan Government grants artists financial support

CITY OF MALOLOS- In an aim to boost up the arts and culture of the province, Provincial Government of Bulacan launches Ayuda sa Sining which grants financial assistance to arts organizations during the Arts Congress as part of the celebration of SALUDO: Arts Month Celebration 2011.

To be qualified for the grant, the organization must be based in Bulacan, with at least five years of active promotion of arts and have a good track record in the implementation of the programs in their community.

Moreover, they need to submit a project proposal to the Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Arts and Culture Office (PYSEACO). For this year, the initial grant will be awarded to the groups that will put into action a project from April to November.

Aside from this, included on the schedule of activities of the Arts Month celebration are the Gawad Pagkilala which recognizes Bulakenyo artists that won in different competitions; Arts Congress which gathers artists and groups to discuss issues of arts and culture in the province; building of organizations that will represent the seven art forms (Architecture, Drama, Dance, Visual, Literature, Music and Film) in the province; Sayaw Pinoy which features the talented dance groups in the country; and Konsierto ng Artistang Bulakenyo that will showcase the talents of outstanding and award-winning artists in the country.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that this celebration aims to intensify the Bulakenyos’ interests and talents in arts and culture.

Likewise, Elizabeth Alonzo, head of PYSEACO, said that SALUDO: Arts Month Celebration 2011 is with accordance to the national celebration of Arts Month, the Ani ng Sining: 2011 Philippine International Arts Festival. ###
