CITY OF MALOLOS – After a week of grueling showdown of athletic flare, Bulacan toppled the rest of the 17 delegations from Region III as the Central Luzon Regional Athletes Association (CLRAA) Meet 2011 took its final leap on February 25, marking another bold victorious year for the young athletes of the province.

Besting most of the sports events, Bulacan was able to collate 252.5 points in the elementary level followed by Pampanga, City of Malolos, Aurora, Bataan and City of Olongapo with 228.5 pts., 100.5pts., 97 pts., 90.5 pts., and 90.16 pts., respectively.

Continuing its winning strike on the secondary level, Bulacan boasted a total point of 290 points while Pampanga, Bataan, City of Olongapo, Angeles City and Nueva Ecija tagged along thus ensuring the overall championship for the province.

For 12 consecutive years, Bulacan outplayed its competitions in various events in the elementary and secondary level such as archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, chess, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, sipa, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, and volleyball.

In the closing ceremony, Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado commended the Bulacan delegation for its victory as well as the other athletes from Region III who played their best during the competition.

“Labis po ang aking kagalakan sa pagkakapanalo ng mga atletang Bulakenyo, gayundin sa pagbibigay ng pagkakataon sa aming lalawigan na pagdausan ng CLRAA. Sana po ang mga ganitong gawain ay magsilbing matibay na bigkis na magbubuklod hindi lamang sa mga Bulakenyo kundi maging sa mga kababayan natin sa Gitnang Luzon,” said the governor.

All of the outstanding athletes who took home the first place in their respective sports events will represent the region in the Palarong Pambansa which is slated to be held at Dapitan City, Zamboanga Del Norte on May 2011. ###
