CITY OF MALOLOS – As the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) observes the Fire Prevention Month this March, Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado called on Bulakenyos to always take the needed precautions against fires.

Alvarado said several activities were lined up to heighten the public awareness and involvement to prevent fire accidents that will lead to unnecessary losses of assets and lives.

The celebration with the theme, “Kahandaan sa Sunog…Tungo sa Kaunlaran” kicked off with the province wide simultaneous blowing of horns in all fire stations and a motorcade participated in by Bureau of Fire Protection personnel, government employees and officials and different rescue groups in Bulacan.

“Kailangang magsimula ang kamulatan ng mga empleyado ng Kapitolyo sa pag-iingat sa sunog at sakuna sa loob ng bahay. Kailangan din ingatan at sinupin ang gusali naman ng Kapitolyo bilang kanilang pangalawang tahanan. Kaya naman uunahing turuan ang mga taga-kapitolyo para sa kontribusyon sa pag-unlad ng gobyerno o sa bansa”, Jim Valerio, Provincial Administrator and PDRRMC Action Officer said.

Selected Provincial Government of Bulacan employees who were given orientation about First Aid (Basic Life Support and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and Fire Suppression were also designated as Fire and Earthquake Marshall or First Aider of their department.

Also, PDRRMO is scheduled to conduct training on fire safety and prevention and first aid in the provincial jail and selected schools, establishments, and city and municipal governments in the province.

This Monday flag ceremony, active support and participation from different rescue groups in the province were also generated for the information and education campaign. There will be static display/ presentation and demonstration of Bulacan Rescue and distribution of trauma kit for the designated capitol first aider.

Meanwhile fire safety inspection, fire and earthquake drill have also been lined up during the month. ###
