Bulacan holds 3rd TAKBULAKAN

CITY OF MALOLOS- More than 1000 runners will participate in the 3rd TAKBULAKAN: Takbo Para sa Nagkakaisang Lalawigan, a 10-km fun run, to be held on March 27, 2011, 5:30 am at the Capitol Compound, City of Malolos, Bulacan.

Aiming to help participants achieve not only healthy bodies and minds, this fun run also promotes camaraderie among Bulakenyos, who still believe in the value of unity, charity and volunteerism.

Sponsored by the Philippine Councilor’s League of Bulacan, ABC Federation of Bulacan, Vice Mayors League of Bulacan, SALIKA Foundation, Inc., UP LAKAN Alumni Association, and in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Bulacan, the profits of this activity will be used for the scholarship, feeding and livelihood programs of the underprivileged youth of Bulacan.

Aside from the financial support, the Provincial Government of Bulacan will provide documentation, security and venue for this event.
“We support programs that help Bulakenyos to unite and also achieve good health especially if it benefits not only few but most especially the underprivileged,” said Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado.

Aside from this, awards will be given to the 10 km, 5 km and 3 km fastest male and female runners. Special citations will also be given to some outstanding participants.

Among the participants are PNP, Philippine Army, Bulacan State University students, Bulakenyo celebrities such as Councilor Alex Castro of Marilao, Jolas Paguia of Pinoy Big Brother and also the running priest, Father Robert Reyes. ###
