Bulacan launches eco-friendly market

CITY OF MALOLOS- Turning waste materials into cash, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado through the Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) will launch the Eco-friendly Bazaar at SM City Marilao on June 20.

According to BENRO chief Atty. Rustico ‘Teddy’ De Belen, the bazaar, which will be participated by recycling entrepreneurs from cities and municipalities in Bulacan, aims to continuously produce products out of waste materials, thus giving them opportunity to showcase it in the market.
“Aside from the additional income they could get from the sales, it also promotes conservation of our environment through strengthening the solid waste management program from Material Recovery Facility (MRF) of each cities and municipalities in the province,” added De Belen.

Among the recycled products that will be seen in the bazaar are baskets, pen holders, decorative items, flower vases, key chains, hammocks out of spare tires, and fertilizer products.

The bazaar will end with an Eco-fashion Show, a competition that will showcase clothes and attires also made from recycled materials.
Along with this, an On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest for students from different schools in Bulacan will be held to uplift the awareness of the youth in environment conservation.

“Aside from making programs that promotes environment protection, we also promote activities that can help boost up the lives of the Bulakenyos ,” said Alvarado. ###
