PGB honors the cleanest towns and city in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Bulacan Kalinisan Task Force (BKTF) recognized the cleanest towns and city in the province for the second time, during the awarding ceremony this morning held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

Aside from the top four frontrunners from the four districts, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado gave a directive to award the runners up as well for the second quarter’s awarding of winners.

“Ito ay isang paraan na rin upang lalong mahikayat ang lahat ng mga bayan at lungsod sa lalawigan na makibahagi sa pagpapanatili ng kalinisan,” said Alvarado.

This quarter’s winners for Pinakamalinis na Bayan o Lungsod were the towns of of Pulilan, Bustos, San Rafael and the city of San Jose del Monte for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th districts respectively and the municipalities of Calumpit, Plaridel, Norzagaray and Sta. Maria were adjudged runners up.

The chosen municipalities, who were represented by their chief executives, went home with P 30,000 cash incentive and a plaque of appreciation while the runners up received P 20,000 cash incentive and a plaque of appreciation.

Winners were chosen according to the following criteria: Responsiveness of their programs, (10%); Effectiveness which tackles the coverage of their program involving the awareness of the community, (10%); Participation of the community, (10%) at Result of the activity which encompasses the execution of plans and its impact to the community, (70%).

Included on the areas that were inspected by BKTF were the roads, canals, public markets, restaurants, gasoline stations, parks and cities or municipal halls.

The BTKF is comprised of representatives from local and national offices including the Provincial Administrator’s Office, Bulacan Environment and Natural Resource Office, Provincial Public Health office, Provincial planning and Development Office, Provincial General Services Office, Provincial Legal Office, Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office, Bulacan Police Office and DILG-Bulacan.

The said awarding is carried out to further strengthen the campaign of the government towards a cleaner environment in accordance to Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. ###
