It’s show time for PWDs in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) will hold a cultural and variety show on Monday, July 18, 10 am at Hiyas ng Bulcan pavilion coinciding the celebration of the 33rd annual celebration of the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week with the theme “Making the Right Real for Filipinos with Disabilities”.

The said show entitled “Basta’t Bulakenyo, Kahit may K Ok” will feature the talents of persons with disabilities (PWDs) through singing, dancing and many more, proving that despite their disabilities, they still have a lot to offer.

Gov. WIlhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado commended the said activity and said that the PWDs are special persons that need to be treated equally.

“Ang pagpapahalaga sa mga may kapansanan sa lalawigan ay pagkilala sa kakayahan at abilidad ng bawat isang Bulakenyo kaya naman marapat na bigyan sila ng sapat na atensyong kailangan ng mga espesyal na indibidwal,” the governor said.

The guests who are expected to grace the event are representatives from the 21 municipalities and three cities in the province, schools for special children, Philippine Christian Ministries for the Disable (Hebron), Bethsaida Special Children Foundation, Akbay Lingap Inc. (AKAPIN) Bulacan an association of parents of PWDs, Kapisanan ng mga may Kapansanan sa Bulacan o KASAMAKA, and Department of Education-Bulacan, San Jose del Monte and Malolos.

According to Mrs. Rowena Tiongson, head of PSWDO, the said activity is a proof that although the PWDs are unique or special in some ways, they still can do a lot and can contribute to the development of our society.

Meanwhile, Rep. Marivic Alvarado of the 1st district of Bulacan will also be present on the said occasion and will give her inspiring message as the guest of honor.

Some of the benefits that differently-abled individuals in the province get are livelihood assistance and Philhealth Insurance cards. ###
