Bulacan strengthens justice system

CITY OF MALOLOS - The 5 Pillars of Justice in this province is set to bring legal services to the grass roots level through a series of seminars and livelihood program as part of the month long celebration of the 5 Pillars of Justice Month with the theme “Katarungan at Kalikasan sa Maunlad at Luntiang Lalawigan ng Bulacan” this August.

The 5 Pillars are composed of the Prosecutor’s office headed by Fiscal Alfredo Geronimo; Philippine National Police headed by PS/Supt. Fernando Mendez Jr.; Regional Trial Court headed by Judge Renato Francisco; Probation and Parole Office/ PCSJMO consisted of CPPO Teresita Mascuñana, CPPO Cezar Lopez Jr., and CPPO Ramon De Leon; and Provincial Government of Bulacan led by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado.

Provincial Legal Officer Jeffrey Cruz said that this year’s celebration is in line with Gov. Alvarado’s 7-point agenda concerning the protection and conservation of the environment.

“We also focus on the barangay level so that we can uplift the awareness of all the Bulakenyos regarding the legal matters which will protect them from getting abused thus, get the justice they deserve. Also, we make sure that our commitment to protect our environment engages all our sectors especially the makers and implementers of the law,” added Gov. Alvarado.

Among the activities scheduled are livelihood and training seminar for the families of the Provincial Jail’s detainees and a series of seminars about Katarungang Pambarangay, Environmental Laws, Sextortion, Correction of Entries, Small Claims, Violence Against Women and Children, Dangerous Drug Act, and Execution of Compromise Agreement within the Barangay Level.

Also, there will be a tree planting activity along the Marilao River, blood-letting activity, Sports Fest for the detainees and Mini Olympics for the members of the 5 Pillars of Justice.

Wrapping up the celebration is the awarding of the winners on the Sportsfest and Mini Olympics to be held at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center. ###
