Gov. Alvarado gives assistance to 115 Bulakenyo OFWs from Libya
Wednesday, 17 August 2011
CITY OF MALOLOS - One hundred fifteen (115) repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Libya received cheques from Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado thru the Tulong Pangkabuhayan para sa mga Repatriated OFWs mula sa bansang Libya program yesterday at the Hiyas Pavilion.

As part of Gov. Alvarado’s seven point agenda, the said program aims to help out the said OFWs in starting their own businesses by providing them necessary trainings and financial assistance in the form of loan.

The displaced Bulakenyo OFWs who submitted their project proposal at the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO) were given the opportunity to apply for a soft loan amounting to P10,000 up to P50,000.

“Ang pag-alis ng ating mga kababayan para magtrabaho sa ibang bansa ay isa lamang option. Inilalatag na natin ang mga programa na kung saan marami ang maghahanapbuhay dito sa ating lalawigan at hindi malayo sa kanilang pamilya at mahal sa buhay,” Alvarado said.

With a grace period of six (6) months, the mode of payment can be made monthly, quarterly or semestral, depending on the preference of the OFW.

Aside from financial assistance, the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) also provided stress management, job referrals, and skills training to the repatriated OFWs, as well as college scholarships for their children.

Moreover, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director Leopoldo B. de Jesus lauded the programs of the PGB aimed in giving livelihood and job opportunities to the people. ###
