Bulacan, cited as one of the top performers in governance

CITY OF MALOLOS- Bulacan was cited as one of the best governed province according to the Local Governance Performance Management System (LGPMS) 2010 report by the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Among the provinces, Bulacan scored 4.8628 ranking third after Bohol which scored 4.9370 and La Union with 4.9115.

Bulacan outdo other provinces such as Negros Oriental (4.8331); Pangasinan (4.8185); Ilocos Norte (4.8185); Albay (4.8064); Cavite (4.8031); Compostela Valley (4.7812); and Tarlac (4.7773).

Anchoring his leadership in his 7-point agenda, Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that they are doing their best in creating and implementing programs embracing the key areas such as environment, health, education, arts and culture, peace and order, livelihood and good governance.

“We are very happy to know that Bulacan is one of the top performers in terms of governance. We will continue to promote transparency in government, and pursue programs that are guided by the principles of good governance,” added Alvarado.

Provincial Information Officer Maricel Santos- Cruz added that Bulacan is also nestled in the roster of the Top Ten Least Poor Areas in the Philippines and also ranked first as Least Poor Province in Central Luzon according to the National Statistical Coordination Board.

LGPMS is a web-based, self-assessment tool that measures the performance of local government units (LGUs) in key governance areas. It assesses LGUs on administrative, social, economic, and environmental governance, and on fundamentals of good governance which include transparency, participation and financial accountability. ###
