Singkaban Fiesta marks a day for health

CITY OF MALOLOS- Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado will hold a day packed with series of activities dealing with nutrition, health services and medical assistance on September 9 as the celebration of Singkaban Fiesta 2011 continues.

Bringing the services of the Provincial Government of Bulacan closer to every Bulakenyo living at the heart of the province, Alvarado will lead the “Kapitolyo sa Barangay” (KSB) in front of the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

At 8 a.m., KSB will begin with medical and dental missions, free eye check-up, free massage (reflexology) and haircut services. They will also distribute free medicines and eye glasses to the indigent Bulakenyos.

Moreover, 2,500 PhilHealth insurance cards will be distributed by Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando to Bulakenyo families who qualified in the evaluation done by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and PhilHealth.

Also, Zenaida dela Vega, chief of Social Insurance Office of PhilHealth-Malolos, will give a lecture about the benefits that they can get from the said insurance.

“We would like to uplift the awareness of the Bulakenyos in health care and nutrition. Through these programs, we hope to alleviate the plight of our indigent constituents especially in times of medical emergencies,” said Alvarado.

Meanwhile, HRM and culinary arts students from the different schools in Bulacan will show-off their cooking skills during the Kalutong Bulakenyo that will be held at the Mini-Forest, 9 a.m. ###
