Wednesday, 14 December 2011
CITY OF MALOLOS-The Capitol park will be illuminated come December 15 in the afternoon as the top officials of the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and guest of honor DOH Sec. Enrique Ona light the 35-foot giant Christmas tree that cues the long celebration of Paskong Bulacan.

Governor Alvarado said the activity aims to put Christmas closer to the hearts of Bulakenyos and to remind them of its true essence.

The giant Christmas tree is made up of intricate Singkaban bamboo arcs adorned with 300 star lanterns and a 2.5 feet star resting on top of it.

Provincial Administrator Jim Valerio said this year’s concept of all the Christmas décor adorning the Capitol and the giant tree is eco-friendly because all of it is recycled.

As the Christmas tree revealed its true beauty and colors, the Capitol’s night sky will be alive and colorful as well with a dazzling, colorful fireworks display.

Meanwhile, Sec. Ona will grace the event to promote the DOH’s firework-injury reduction campaign dubbed as “Aksyon: Paputok Injury Reduction” or APIR that endorses a safe and responsible use of fireworks.

Before the countdown to the lighting ceremony, the audience will be serenaded by the singing of different chorale groups and playing of Hiyas ng Bulacan Concert Brass Band among others.

More than 700 Bulakenyos are expected to take part in the celebration including the local chief executives from the towns and cities of the province, non-government organizations, high school students and employees of the Capitol. ###
