Tuesday, 20 December 2011
CITY OF MALOLOS- The Provincial Government of Bulacan together with the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Bulacan through Gawad Galing Sanggunian (GGS) 2011 will bring forth another feather in the cap for outstanding legislators in Bulacan that will be held on December 21, 2011 at 5:30 in the afternoon at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.

Anchoring GGS 2011 with the theme, “Panibagong Yugto ng Galing at Talino, Sama-sama, Kayang-Kaya,” Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that GGS aims to become a motivation for local legislators to perform their duties with excellence and honor.

“GGS focuses on how local legislators can work hand-in-hand in order to create ordinances that are valuable to the demands of our modern society. Truly, Bulakenyos exemplify extraordinary performances in all fields including legislation,” said Alvarado.

Board Member Ariel Arceo, president of PCL-Bulacan said that they made sure that the integrity of the award was safeguarded in each step of the selection and screening process.

“We started with the scheduling of evaluation to cover all the municipalities and cities in Bulacan. We visit them during their regular session, observe how they perform proceedings, and check on their documentation and record-keeping,” said Arceo.

Among the awards included in GGS are Natatanging Sangguniang Bayan and Natatanging Sangguniang Panlungsod; Natatanging Tagapangulo ng Hapag; Natatanging Kagawad ng Sangguniang Bayan at Sangguniang Panlungsod; Natatanging Kalihim ng Sanggunian; and the newest award, the Natatanging Ordinansa ng Taon. There are also special awards such as Perfect Attendance, Most Improved Session Hall, Most Innovative Sanggunian and Posthumous Awards.

“More than the award, it is more of going back to our roots. This year’s GGS is very memorable not only to the present members of the Sangguniang Bayan/ Lungsod but also to the former councilors in the province. Through GGS, those who had served as councilors in town or cities were recognized as we visit their localities. This also serves as an encouragement and a reminder that their contribution as local legislators are valued, and their continuous support to the present councilors are very important for the progress of their community,” added Arceo. ###
