Wednesday, 11 January 2012
CITY OF MALOLOS-Bulakenyo legislators from among the three cities and 21 towns in the province were recognized by the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado in the recently held Gawad Galing Sanggunian (GGS) 2011 at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center.

Alvarado said, “GGS focuses on how local legislators can work hand-in-hand in order to create ordinances that are valuable to the demands of our modern society. Truly, Bulakeños exemplify extra ordinary performances in all fields including legislation.”

He also added that GGS aims to become a motivation for local legislators to perform their duties with excellence and honor.

With the theme, “Panibagong Yugto ng Galing at Talino, Sama-sama, Kayang-kaya,” the town of Calumpit was adjudged as the Natatanging Sangguniang Bayan while the City of Malolos was hailed as the Natatanging Sangguniang Panglunsod.

Further, Hon. Sheila Ana Erina R. Enriquez of Plaridel was awarded the Natatanging Kagawad ng Sangguniang Bayan while Mr. Felix P. Cadiz of San Jose del Monte City and Hon. Antonio S. Patawaran of Baliwag received the Natatanging Kalihim ng Sanggunian and Natatanging Tagapangulo ng Sanggunian awards respectively.

Meanwhile, City Ordinance No. 16-2010 authored by Hon. Jesus Ricardo c. Degala III of Malolos City received the Gawad Natatanging Ordinansa, an award newly given this year.

Board Member Ariel Arceo, president of PCL-Bulacan, said the selection and screening process was safeguarded and executed with full integrity.

“Through GGS, those who had served as councilors in town or cities were recognized as we visit their localities. This also serves as an encouragement and a reminder that their contributions as local legislators are valued, and their continuous support to the present councilors are very important for the progress of their community. More than the award, it is more of going back to our roots,” Arceo said.

Gawad Galing Sanggunian was made possible through the efforts of the Provincial Government of Bulacan and the Philippine Councilors League (PCL). ###
