CITY OF MALOLOS- Department of Health Sec. Enrique Ona yesterday described the Bulacan Medical Center as one of the most advanced public hospitals in the country during the inauguration of the new Emergency Room, Out Patient Department Complex and Maternity Extension Ward in this city.

“I’m so flabbergasted, surprised and impressed. I am very happy to see this and I must admit, palagay ko ito ang pinakamaganda,” said Sec. Ona.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) is continuously improving the facilities so that Bulakenyos can feel the ambiance of modern luxury hospitals like St. Luke’s Medical Center and will feel more comfortable in seeking medical services.

“Kahit mahirap, mayroong karapatan maka-aircon, sa kumportableng ospital. We would like to equitably distribute the social services, we are putting everything in order because we believe that if everything is in order we would have development,” the governor added.

Alvarado explained that the old Emergency room will soon be the Doctors’ office, the second floor as the operating room and the 3rd floor will turn into a stock room.

“Big part naman sa ating napanalunan mula sa Seal of Good Governance ay dito din natin inilaan sa health. We have 350 new beds para sa buong ospital,” added the top local chief executive.

Dr. Protacio Bajao, director of BMC said that the Maternity extension ward has 46-bed capacity, the new OPD can accommodate up to 500 patients per day and the new ER can house up to 20 patients a day.

The governor also mentioned in his speech that PGB is already on the plan of having more district hospitals in the province such as the P20-million worth buildings in Plaridel, Angat, Pandi and Obando.

Sec. Ona on the other hand commits to share the expenses on buying new 16-slice CT scan.

“I don’t think I’ll ever hesitate to come back if you invite me again. Itong nakita ko ngayon, this must be a model na pwedeng sundan ng iba pang mga pampublikong ospital sa bansa at ito naman ang responsibilidad ng ating kagawaran, ang unahin ang kalusugan ng mga mamamayan,” added the health secretary.

Also present in the event were DOH Usec. Gerardo Bayugo and Regional Director Leonita Gorgolon, Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and the municipal mayors in the province. ###
