CITY OF MALOLOS- More or less 1,700 Bulakenyo scholars gathered in Bulacan Capitol Gym yesterday afternoon for the Tulong Pang-Edukasyon...Gabay ng Bagong Henerasyon! scholarship program of the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado.

PGB scholars studying at Bulacan State University and Bulacan Polytechnic University and their satellite campuses attended the assembly.

In his message, the governor encouraged the scholars to study well to be able to contribute to the betterment of the society.

“Hinihiling ko at umaaasa ako sa inyo na balang araw ay gumawa kayo ng mga hakbang upang magbigay kaunlaran hindi lang sa ating lalawigan kundi pati na rin sa bansang Pilipinas,” Alvarado said.

As part of the 7-point agenda of Alvarado, the said scholarship offers two types--Academic Scholarship Program (ASP) and Educational Assistance Program (EAP).

The ASP is a scholarship program given to deserving students regardless of their financial status, choice of course and school as long as they will be able to maintain a very satisfactory grade. Scholars under this program receive P 5, 000 per semester.

EAP on the other hand, is the educational assistance given to the needy Bulakenyo students who dream to finish studies but are not capable due to poverty. Scholars under this program receive P 3, 000 per semester.

Accepted scholars are all registered Bulakenyo students who do not have a failing grade, studying inside and outside of the province and do not receive any study grants from other schools, government and private organizations.

At present, PGB has a total of 9,686 scholars from BSU, BPC, Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) and other universities and colleges. ###
