Pres. Aquino proclaimed 1st Bulacan IT Park
Monday, 16 January 2012
President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III has inked the Proclamation 316 creating and designating the PDC Techno Park in San Rafael, Bulacan as information technology park.

Showing a copy of the proclamation signed on January 12, 2012, Mayor Lorna Silverio of this town told that this is another milestone towards the realization of their dreams.

Initiated by Mayor Silverio, this first IT Park in the province of Bulacan is similar to UP-Ayala Techno Hub, Eastwood City Cyberpark and Sta. Rosa Techno Park that will further boost investments, employment and economic activities in the area and neighboring towns.

“Aside from AAIN Garment Corporation from Korea who had invested here prior to proclamation, we are expecting more locators to infuse investments at the 88,275 square meter fully-developed facility, Silverio said”.

“As PEZA-registered IT park, locators inside the said ecozone will enjoy income tax holiday, customs duties and other applicable taxes up to six years. This will be advantageous to investors because they don’t have to worry on tax expenses in their break-even period of commercial operations,” she added.

The IT Park is located near the municipal boundary of San Rafael and Baliuag, an ideal site for BPO considering its availability of talent from universities and colleges within the area, accessibility and presence of required infrastructure including recreational facility.

After PEZA’s recommendation for approval or even before it was declared IT park, the facility already drew the attention of BPO industry players.

In last quarter of 2011, Sutherland Global Services, a leading Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company based in the United States expressed interest in establishing a call center at the IT Park. Due diligence and property evaluation was made twice and found out viable for their provincial business expansion.

Officials from Business Processing Association of the Philippines led by Executive Director Gigi Virata assessed the facility last February.

In the same month, representatives from Jones Lang LaSalle Leechiu, a global integrated real estate service provider also visited the facility to promote the park to investors abroad. ###
