Bulacan commemorates great propagandist’s life

CITY OF MALOLOS- Personalities from the academe, media, masonry, cultural sector and non-governmental organizations, gathered at the Marcelo H. Del Pilar Shrine (MHDPS) located at the town of Bulakan, Bulacan as they honor the 116th death anniversary of Marcelo H. Del Pilar, a patriot, propagandist and celebrated figure in the Philippine Revolution yesterday.

Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado graced the historic occasion together with National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Historic Sites Development Officer Architect Veronica Dado and Bulakan Mayor Patrick Meneses.

Alvarado said that Marcelo H. Del Pilar also known as Plaridel has been an important person in the history of the country and still play a vital role until the present times that is why this year’s celebration is anchored on the theme “Kilusang Propaganda ni Del Pilar : Ang kabuluhan nito sa Edukasyon ng kasalukuyang Panahon. ”

MHDPS Curator Alex Balagtas said that after the commemorative program, they also conducted an annual lecture-series featuring Prof. Michael Charleston B. Chua of De la Salle University as resource speaker.

Among the participants are faculty members and students of Mass Communication, Journalism, Tourism, History and Social Sciences from the Bulacan State University, Centro Escolar University, La Consolacion University Philippines and other schools in the province.

Del Pilar was born in Cupang, San Nicolas, Bulakan, Bulacan on August 30, 1850 and died in Barcelona, Spain on July 4, 1896. ###
