Bulacan to recognize Outstanding Rural/City Health Units

CITY OF MALOLOS—The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado through the Provincial Public Health Office will hold the Awarding Ceremony for 2012 Search for Outstanding Rural/City Health Unit and 2012 LGU Best Health Practice on April 25, 2013, Thursday, 10 am at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.

Governor Alvarado said the PGB recognizes and value the contributions and efforts of municipal/city health units together with its health workers and health volunteers to uplift the health conditions of all Bulakeños, thus an annual health awards will be held.

“Ito ay isang paraan na rin upang lalong mahikayat ang lahat ng mga bayan at lungsod sa lalawigan na makibahagi sa pangangalaga ng kalusugan, lalo na ‘yung mga tao na inaasahan nating mangalaga sa atin”, said Alvarado.

Outstanding Rural/City Health Unit were chosen according to the following criteria: Adequacy of facilities, supplies and logistics; Compliance to protocols; Adequacy of health budget and other financing; Completeness/accuracy/updated health information; Health program outputs and outcomes plus PGB programs; and Health Human resource management.

The winners will take home P 50,000 cash prize, the second place will receive P 30,000, the third placer goes home with P 20, 000 and the fourth and fifth placers will receive P10,000 each, all with a plaque of appreciation.

Meanwhile, winners for Best Health Practice will also receive the same incentives. They were chosen according to the following criteria: LGU-Initiated in developing local health system-Health relevance Implementation of health reforms Targets the vulnerable and marginalized health sector; Simple and Doable-Simple practices ( doable in 1 and ½ year); High level of sustainability-Consistent with existing policies; Supported by local governance; Widely participated and has been adopted as a permanent structure or program with regular budgetary support and community representation in decision making bodies/committees; Cost effectiveness and cost efficient-Mobilization and Utilization of indigenous resources and with minimal support from external sources; and Positive results to the beneficiaries (beneficiaries should be the vulnerable, disadvantaged and marginalized sectors).

The Technical Working Group conducted the series of field evaluation for two months using the approved checklist or criteria on both award categories.

Expected guests and participants include local chief executives, municipal/city health officers, rural/city, health physicians, public health nurses, PGB department heads and assistant department heads, Health Awards Execom and TWG, DOH-CHD3 officials.###
