Sigaw-Saya sa Bulacan to boast province's tourism and culture

CITY OF MALOLOS- Twenty four groups from different colleges and universities in Bulacan will dance, yell and boast about the province’s tourism and culture at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium for the “Sigaw-Saya sa Bulacan”, a cheer dance competition on September 9, one o’clock in the afternoon in this city.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the competition is one of the highlights in this year’s Singkaban Fiesta which aims to promote the province thru Bulacan-themed dances and yells.

“Bibigyang buhay at sigla ng cheer dance competition ang 24K Icons na proyekto ng Tanggapan ng Turismo ng Bulacan na isa sa tampok na programa ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan,” said Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Arts, Culture and Tourism Officer Elizabeth Alonzo.

The 24K Tourism Icons of Bulacan is composed of modernized arts of Angat, birthplace of Balagtas, Lenten procession of Baliwag, fireworks of Bocaue, Del Pilar’s heritage of Bulakan, dam dipping in Bustos, cruising in Calumpit, nature tripping in Doña Remedios Trinidad, garden haven of Guiguinto, fishing industry in Hagonoy, revisiting the past of Malolos, national shrine of Marilao, finest jewelry of Meycauayan, dam viewing in Norzagaray, fertility dancing in Obando, revisiting Kakarong in Pandi, vinegar fermentation of Paombong, designs and architecture in Plaridel, kneeling carabao in Pulilan, wonders of nature in San Ildefonso, trekking in San Miguel, festive pageantry in San Rafael, independent pilgrim in San Jose Del Monte and fiesta foods of Santa Maria.

Alonzo added that aside from the yell that will highlight Bulacan’s tourism, heroes, food, arts and culture, the cheer dance groups must also use “Piliin mo ang Bulacan”, the Bulacan 24K Icon official theme song.

Winners will receive trophies and cash prize amounting to P20,000 for the first place, P15, 000 and P10,000 for the second and third places and P3,000 for the seven consolation prizes.

Sigaw-Saya sa Bulacan cheer dance competition is open to all Bulakenyo students from secondary and tertiary schools ages 15-20 years old. ###
