Bulacan all set for the celebration of National Disaster Consciousness Month

CITY OF MALOLOS— The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has already readied series of activities to mark the celebration of the Disaster Consciousness Month this July.
With this year’s theme “Ligtas na Bayan, Maunlad na Pamayanan,” the celebration aims to raise more awareness and participation of Bulakenyos in disaster risk reduction and management. This event will also enhance the response teams’ skills in basic life support.
In cooperation with the local government units in Bulacan, province-wide information dissemination will be launched on July 1 alongside the weekly flag raising ceremony at the Capitol Gymnasium wherein leaflets and distress whistles will be distributed and tarpaulins and streamers will be hanged in conspicuous areas.

PDRRMO will also launch on Monday the “Ang Bote Mo, Kaligtasan Ko ….Tuluy-tuloy na 2,” an initiative for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA). It is also a fund raising activity wherein the proceeds will be used for the procurement of additional rescue equipment and for helping different response teams of the province.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado encourages every employee of the Provincial Government of Bulacan to support this project by donating plastic bottles in exchange for raffle tickets and a chance to win a survival kit or life vest. PDRRMO also thanked the Salika Foundation and other partner agencies for their involvement in the said activity.

To further boost the readiness and enhance the skills and competence in giving first aid, basic life support- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), water safety and fire suppression a training will be conducted from July 1-5 at the office of the Philippine Red Cross-Bulacan and from July 8-12 sa at the The Pavillion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center.

Bulacan Rescue Team is also set to go to Baler, Aurora on July 26 to 28 for the annual Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Simulation Exercise and on July 16 in the City of San Jose Del Monte for the 10th Regional First Aid and Basic Life Support Olympics sponsored by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Region 3 (RDRRMCR3) which will be participated in by various response teams from different provinces, cities, towns and villages in Region III.

The Provincial BLS-CPR Olympics will be held on July 30 at the Bulacan Sports Complex.

Moreover, re-painting of the staff gauges and flood markers in order to enhance the Community Based Flood Forecasting and Management Program (CBFFMP) in the river basin of the province particularly in Angat and Santa Maria has already been scheduled.
