Bulacan recognizes a new batch of outstanding young Bulakenyos

CITY OF MALOLOS-The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) honored a new set of outstanding Bulakenyo youths thru Gintong Kabataan Awards (GKA) 2013 yesterday, November 12 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at the Hiyas Pavilion Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, in this city.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the annual search is held to recognize Bulakenyo youths who excelled in different categories including academics, arts and culture, entrepreneur, public service, labor, sports, Sangguniang Kabataan and Gintong Kabataang Bayani.

“These youths should be recognized to inspire other young blood to give and live to their fullest potential,” the governor added.

This year’s awardees include Cherry Anne Placido of St. Mary’s College of Baliuag and Jona Micah Espejo of Centro Escolar University for academics; Hernan Manalastas from Sta. Maria (performing arts), Don Bryan Michael Bunag of Bulakan (visual arts) and Crisanto Salamat of Hagonoy (broadcasting) for arts and culture; Ravenal Quizon of San Ildefonso (entrepreneur); Oliver Hernandez of Malolos and Central Luzon-Leadership and Empowerment Alliance for Development of Plaridel (group) for community service; Armando Valencia of Paombong (professional) and Genrev Paul Bacasno of Malolos (skilled worker) for labor; Vladimir Equia of San Ildefonso for sports; Re-ann Mae Mendoza of City San Jose del Monte and Jaycel Santos of Pandi for SK officials; and 2nd Lt. Florencio Mikael Meneses of Pulilan and 1st Lt. John Kristopher Rama of Norzagaray for the Gintong Kabataang Bayani category.

Special citations were also given to GMA7 TV personality Jak Roberto and Sto. Cristo Violin Ensemble of Pulilan for being the Grand Champion of Talentadong Pinoy Junior edition and SK council of Bulihan, City of Malolos.

Awardees received plaque, trophy and cash incentives.

Meanwhile, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Director Mabel Villarica-Mamba graced the event as the guest speaker.

GKA is a project of PGB through the Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Arts Culture and Tourism Office. ###
