Ambassador Duong hopes for a strengthened relationship with Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS— Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, His Excellency Truong Duong was enthusiastic during his visit in Bulacan to discuss about the promotion of bilateral trade and investment between Vietnam and the province yesterday at the Hiyas Pavilion Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.

“The goal of our visit is to inform the officials and businessmen of Bulacan the opportunities of cooperation and doing business in Vietnam. The door of Vietnam embassy is always open for any of your initiatives or inquiries to do business with Vietnamese. Likewise we would also like to hear about doing business opportunities in Bulacan. I believe that this will result in enhancing our relations and cooperation,” Ambassador Duong said.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado also believes that the ceremony will contribute to a better relations between the two countries and to a more peaceful and prosperous world for the children of the next generation in the years to come.

“This meeting is a testament to our incredible focus and desire to boost our relationship in different areas for our economic advancement. We can look forward to a better time now if we tackle our province in good faith with imagination and determination and seek the best possible solution for the benefit of our countries,” Alvarado said.

Mr. Phan Tuan Khoi, Commercial Counselor, presented the overview on trade policy of Vietnam including the exports to the country in the year 2012 such as rice, machinery, mobil & Eq, coffee, computers, which amounted to 1.871 US dollars as well as the products that are prohibited from import and export like weapons, fireworks, toxic chemicals etc.

Provincial Planning and Development Officer Arlene Pascual presented the highlights of the Provincial Government of Bulacan’s (PGB) initiative on trade, investment and tourism.

PGB Officials headed by Alvarado, Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando, Bulacan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) members and Ambassador Duong also signed the Memorandum of Cooperation.

Moreover, BCCI President Gregoria Simbulan cited the common characteristics of Vietnam and the Philippines.

“Aside from food, historically, we have both been colonies of the European countries but it is good to know that there are very strong evidences of active maritime trade between our two countries even before the arrival of the Europeans and it’s time that we must continue in the present time,” Simbulan said. ###
