CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Public Health Office and Bulacan Multi-Sectoral Alliance (BMSA) Against TB conducted Bulacan TB Summit today, August 22 at the The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.
With the theme Stop TB: Makialam! Tara Na!, the summit aims to intensify the campaign against TB by equipping the Bulakenyos with enough information on how to prevent and cure the said disease.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy Alvarado said the province is committed in combating TB.
“Kailangang tulung-tulong tayo sa pagsugpo nito at mag-ingat dahil mahal ang magkasakit lalo na kung ang pasyente ay magiging drug resistant kung saan mas magiging mahal ang gamutan. Dapat ay tuluy-tuloy ang gamutan dahil maaaring i-avail ang libreng gamot sa mga pampublikong ospital”, said Alvarado.
The governor also said that it is important for every Bulakenyo to know all the information about TB to prevent the ballooning of patients with the said disease and to treat immediately the persons that may be infected by it.
Meanwhile, Alvarado with the local chief executives in the province signed the Pledge of Commitment that aims to support the implementation of TB Control Program in Bulacan by providing supportive policies and allocating appropriate funds in their respective local government units.
Also, some institutions and individuals who are devoted in taking care of the health of Bulakenyos pledged their commitment to join the fight against TB by signing the Declaration of Support.
The said pledge includes actively supporting and participating in the Bulacan Alliance for TB Control and promoting participation of all health facilities into the TB DOTS referral network.

Also part of the culminating activity were the awarding of the mural painting contest, Audio Video Presentation of testimonials of TB Cured Patients and oath taking ceremony of the BMSA officers. ###
