Alvarado emphasizes the importance of public road safety

CITY OF MALOLOS – Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado continues to support and appreciate the services provided by jeepney and tricycle drivers in the province as he stressed the importance of public road safety during the “Araw ng Lingkod Lansangan” held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city, yesterday.

As part of the weeklong celebration of Singkaban Festival 2015, the Provincial Government of Bulacan gathered almost 2,000 members of Bulacan Federation of Jeepney and Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (BFJODA and TODA) to thank and compensate their services in providing safe and smooth public transportation everyday.

During the said appreciation day, all members of BFJODA and TODA received grocery bags from the PGB as a sign of gratefulness and recognition for their services.

A raffle was also held wherein winners got the chance to take home different home appliances like washing machine, LED TV, electric fans; three sacks with 25 kg of rice each, five sacks with 10 kg of rice each; three tool sets; two cell phones; 30 winners of P2,000 and 12 winners of cell phone loads worth P300.

The governor commended their hard work and even urged them to maintain their road discipline to prevent the escalation of road accidents, which is one of the leading causes of death in the Philippines.

“Palagi kong inaasahan ang mga disiplinado nating tsuper at tricycle drivers na patuloy na nagbibigay ng ligtas at payapang serbisyong pangtransportasyon sa ating lalawigan lalo’t higit sa panahon ngayon na nalalapit na ang reyalisasyon ng mga proyektong mas magpapayabong sa kabuhayan at ekonomiya ng Bulacan,” the governor said.

Singing Tsuper Rodolfo Dela Cruz also brought extra happiness and entertainment to the celebration as he serenaded his fellow drivers with his beautiful rendition of “All of Me” by John Legend.

Meanwhile, the jeepney drivers who attended the event expressed their appreciation in having an event like this because they were given a chance to raise their concerns at the same time, have fun with their fellow drivers.

“Nakakatuwa na patuloy ang pamahalaan sa pagsuporta sa amin at hindi namin makakalimutan ang aming pangako na maglingkod ng mahinanon at ligtas sa kalsada upang ihatid ang bawat pasahero sa kanilang patutunguhan,” Ronaldo Dela Cruz, BFJODA member said.
