CITY OF MALOLOS – Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado assures that the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Veterinary Office conducts regular inspection of healthy meat compliance in slaughterhouses and public markets to protect the consumer against illegal meat traders.
Meanwhile, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Voltaire Basinang said that the PVO exerts extra effort to ensure meat safety all over Bulacan through spot checking and strict monitoring of slaughterhouses and meat stalls in different public markets in the province.
In addition to this, they are also conducting regular meetings with the meat inspectors and market masters to discuss about the latest trends, issues, memorandums and laws on meat safety.
“We want awareness and meat wholesomeness,” Basinang said as he disclosed about the tarpaulins disseminated along public markets which contain tips on how to distinguish fresh meat from not.
“Discern the meat’s colour and odour and do not buy on stores with different lighting because colorful lights mask the appearance of the meat.
