PGB signs covenant of support to boost tech-voc education development

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado together with the Bulacan Association of Technical-Vocational Schools (BATS) in the province signed a covenant of support to promote productivity and employability of Bulakenyos during the Technical-Vocational Education Training (TVET) Advocacy Forum cum Career Expo held this afternoon at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Man Emmanuel “Joel” Villanueva graced the event as the guest speaker and acknowledged the cooperative participation of the local government and the private and public sectors in implementing TVET as a primary intervention in advocating quality life and inclusive growth of the country.

“Masayang pagbabago at magandang kinabukasan ang patuloy na handog ng TESDA sa mga kabataang mayroong pangarap sa buhay. Hindi matatapos ang paglilingkod sa mga taong patuloy na nagsusumikap na maiangat ang antas ng kanilang pamumuhay,” Villanueva said.

The former TESDA director general also discussed the accomplishments of TESDA for the past five years wherein more than 500 local and international partnerships were forged and more than 70% of its graduates got employed.

Meanwhile, Alvarado said that the achievements of TESDA prompted the PGB and TESDA-Bulacan to seize the momentum and engage the commitment of partnership among concerned agencies and sectors to ensure sustainability of technical education and skills development in the province.

“Sa pamamagitan ng ating edukasyon, sa pamamagitan ng TESDA, lalong nalilinang ang kaalaman at kakahayahan ng ating mga mamamayan; sapagkat kung meron pong tunay na yaman ang isang bansa, ‘yan po ay walang iba kung hindi ang ating mamamayan at tayo pong mga Bulakenyo, yaman po tayo hindi lamang ng ating lalawigan bagkus ng buong bansang Pilipinas,” the governor said.

Prior to this, TESDA Man Villanueva and Alvarado together with Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando, District I Congresswoman Marivic Sy-Alvardo, ABC Chairman Mark Cholo Violago, DepEd Malolos Division Superintendent Amancio Villamejor, BATS President Millie Kaw led the ribbon cutting that signified the opening of the 2nd Bulacan Career Expo that aims to promote tech-voc training program among senior high students.

Moreover, almost 25 technical schools, technical-vocational alumni and mentors, agency presidents, mother leaders, health workers, BATS coordinator, and barangay captains attended the event that was made possible through the cooperative partnership of TESDA and the Provincial Youth Sports, Employment and Development Office.
