CITY OF MALOLOS – A total of 12 carabaos were distributed by the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Veterinary Office to farmers from District 1 under the annual Animal Distribution Project (ADP) held in front of the Provincial Agriculture Office yesterday.

Before bringing home the carabaos, the beneficiaries made a courtesy call to Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado wherein the latter explained that the project aims to augment the income of local farmers so that they will continue on being important players who contribute in ensuring rice sufficiency in the province.

“Ang mga magsasaka ay hindi lang nagsasaka para sa mga pamilya nila. Ginagawa nila ang pagsasaka para sa lahat. ‘Yung matulungan natin sila kahit sa ganitong paraan ay isang uri na rin ng pasasalamat dahil sa mga ani nila na dumadating sa hapag ng marami at sana patuloy na dumami pa ang ani nila,” Alvarado said.

The recipients of carabaos who are from District 1 include the towns of Hagonoy, Calumpit, Bulakan, and Pulilan and the City of Malolos.

For a beneficiary to be eligible, one must be a farmer; must be willing to undergo a seminar which consists of proper raising and management; and write a Letter of Intent addressed to the governor of Bulacan.

“Pagka nakita namin na qualified ka and willing ka nang mag-alaga ng ganyan hindi mo pababayaan, ia-assist ka namin, para maging legible ka for dispersal project,” Dr. Basinang said.

Moreover, the PVO consistently conducts Orientation Seminar to the recipients so that dispersed animals will be properly taken care of and will be put to good use.

Currently, they are giving a seminar on Organic Layer Management where they teach the farmers about the proper ways of taking care of the animals thus making them possible recipients for 10 organic layered chickens or pecking duck.

In addition, the PVO is also distributing goats to those who are interested and willing to be supervised.

“With the Goat Enterprise Management kasi, since bago or possible pa lang ‘yung ating goat industry, pinili namin talaga na i-supervise ‘yung mga magiging recipients on a weekly basis at tsaka by stage ng animal, para matulungan din sila na maalagaan mabuti at maparami pa ‘yung alaga nila,” the provincial veterinarian added.
